Senator Fadahunsi Resigns from PDP, Cites Irreparable Differences - The Alternative News

Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing deep-seated internal crises within the party.

Fadahunsi made his resignation known in a letter dated June 12, 2025, personally signed and addressed to the Ward Chairman of the PDP in Ward 4, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.

In the letter, the lawmaker said his decision to exit the party was due to "irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles" that have plagued the PDP at the national level following the 2023 general elections.

“This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family, and friends,” he wrote. “It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith. Thank you for your understanding.”

The resignation marks a significant political development in Osun State, where Fadahunsi has been a prominent figure within the PDP.

Reacting to the development, a PDP stalwart in Ilesa, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told DAILY POST that the senator’s departure had been anticipated. According to him, Fadahunsi had long grown disillusioned with the party and had resisted pressure from party stakeholders urging him to remain.

As of the time of filing this report, Senator Fadahunsi has not officially announced his next political move or any plans to join another party.
