Snoop Dogg Joins Swansea City as Co-Owner, Vows to Boost Club’s Global Profile - The Alternative News

American rap icon Snoop Dogg has become a minority co-owner of English Championship side Swansea City, the club confirmed this week.

The 53-year-old entertainer, real name Calvin Broadus, surprised fans over the weekend by unveiling Swansea’s new 2025–26 home kit, fueling speculation that was confirmed with his formal introduction as part of the club’s ownership group.

“My love of football is well known, but it feels special to make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,” Snoop Dogg said via the club’s official website. “This is a proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back — just like me.”

His investment follows that of Real Madrid and Croatia legend Luka Modrić, who took a stake in the Welsh club earlier this year after American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen led a takeover in November 2024.

The club's leadership hailed the rapper’s arrival as a major step in expanding Swansea’s global reach.

“To borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City,” said a statement from Cravatt and Cohen. “Snoop’s colossal global fan base will help amplify our efforts to elevate the club’s profile and commercial opportunities.”

Snoop’s involvement reportedly stems from a personal connection with Cravatt and Cohen. While he has long expressed his love for football, even attending Premier League matches in the past, this marks his first formal stake in a professional club.

To commemorate his arrival, Swansea unveiled a mural of Snoop Dogg inside the Swansea.com Stadium’s West Stand.

The club’s American owners, currently with the team during preseason in Spain, reiterated their intention to increase revenues and reinvest in the squad while staying within profit and sustainability regulations.
