President Bola Tinubu has approved a one-year extension of the tenure of Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi. Originally set to retire in August 2025, Adeniyi will now remain in office until August 2026.
The extension, announced on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, aims to allow Adeniyi to consolidate ongoing reforms and complete key initiatives under the Tinubu administration.
President Tinubu praised Adeniyi’s leadership and expressed confidence that the extension would enhance trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.
Adeniyi was appointed Comptroller-General in October 2023 after serving in an acting capacity.
