Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, has congratulated Nigeria’s Super Falcons on their historic triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they claimed the coveted title for a record 10th time following a dramatic comeback victory over hosts Morocco.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed, and made available to journalists on Sunday, Governor Radda hailed the Super Falcons' victory as a “proud moment for every Nigerian” and a reflection of the strength, resilience, and determination of Nigerian women in sports.

“This win means more than just a trophy,” Radda said. “The Super Falcons showed the kind of courage and commitment that define the true Nigerian spirit. Coming from behind to defeat a tough Moroccan side in front of their home crowd shows what’s possible when talent meets hard work and unity.”

The governor further emphasized the inspirational impact of the team’s success on aspiring female athletes across Nigeria, noting that the Falcons have once again proven themselves as role models both on and off the pitch.

Governor Radda also extended commendations to the coaching crew, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and loyal fans for their steadfast support throughout the tournament.

 “Congratulations, Super Falcons. Nigeria is proud of you. Katsina is proud of you. Your victory has brought joy and pride to the entire nation. Welcome home, champions,” he added.

The Super Falcons' latest achievement marks a continuation of their dominance in African women’s football, having now secured 10 out of 13 WAFCON titles — a feat unmatched on the continent.
