Former Big Brother Naija housemate and media personality, Pere Egbi, has been thrown into mourning following the death of a close friend who reportedly took his own life due to cyberbullying.

Pere disclosed the sad news on Monday via his X account, writing: “I lost a friend today due to online bullying. Committed suicide. Smh. RIP champ. It is well.”

Although he did not provide further details about the incident, Pere linked the tragedy directly to relentless online harassment.

The development comes weeks after Big Brother Naija held a tribute in memory of three ex-housemates who have died — Francisca Owumi, Joseph Ada, and Rico Swavey.

Pere, who rose to fame in the “Shine Ya Eye” season of BBNaija, has since built a career as an actor, singer, and songwriter. He has featured in both local and international productions, including Gem of the Rain Forest, Pound of Flesh, and Blood Vessel.
