The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has declared that the party has become more formidable following the defection of some of its top members to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement on Monday signed by its Director General, Emmanuel Agbo, the Forum said those who left the PDP had engaged in “irresponsible verbal attacks” after joining what it described as a “one-chance vehicle.”
The Forum likened the defectors to the Biblical prodigal son, insisting that their departure brought relative peace to the PDP.
“Since their exit, the PDP has become much more formidable and focused, with a clear determination to keep our eyes on the ball,” the statement read.
It added that the ADC members, driven by “an inordinate sense of entitlement,” had been a clog in the wheel of national unity and harmony.
The Forum also noted that insecurity in the country dominated its recent deliberations, stressing that the PDP governors remained committed to working towards stability and peace.
The statement further said the party’s doors remain open to any former members who wish to return after showing remorse.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President David Mark, ex-lawmaker Dino Melaye, and several others recently defected from the PDP to the ADC, the platform of the opposition coalition.
