Mohbad: Oriyomi Hamzat Lifts Ban on Naira Marley Songs - The Alternative News

Founder of Ibadan-based Agidigbo 88.7 FM, Oriyomi Hamzat, has apologised to Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and lifted the ban earlier placed on his songs at the station.

Hamzat made the announcement on Tuesday during a live broadcast, noting that Agidigbo FM would henceforth resume airplay of Marlian tracks.

The broadcaster had imposed the ban in 2024 following allegations linking Marley to the death of former Marlian Records signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, who died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27.

Hamzat expressed regret over his earlier stance, admitting he had misjudged the singer.

“I am very sorry for all my provocative statements or words to Naira Marley. And now at Agidigbo Radio Station, we have lifted our legs up to march Satan and overcome obstacles. From today onward, I am raising the ban that was placed on the singer’s tracks at Agidigbo FM. We can now be playing Naira Marley songs at our radio station,” he said.

To affirm his decision, Hamzat immediately played Marley’s hit track Tesumole live on air.
