Nigerian makeup artist, Theresa Emegwara, has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest makeup application by an individual.

In a statement issued by her media aide, Robert Ekat, on Tuesday in Lagos, it was confirmed that Emegwara, popularly known as TesGlam, broke the record on August 19 at exactly 7:15 a.m. after clocking 103 hours, 25 minutes, and 34 seconds. She surpassed the previous record held by Ghana’s Akosua Mantey Roselyn, who achieved the feat on April 3, 2024.

Emegwara, 28, launched the challenge under the banner Glam 4-144 after receiving official approval from Guinness World Records to begin on August 14. While she has already secured the title, she plans to extend her record to 144 hours in order to set a significant milestone.

“I am filled with immense gratitude and energy from the support of everyone cheering me on. This has really tested me; I have cried and nearly given up. We are not yet done. The aim is 144 hours,” she said.

The makeup marathon, which is expected to run for about six days, has drawn widespread attention and adds to the growing list of record-breaking feats by Nigerians, including Tunde Onakoya’s chess marathon and Chef Hilda Baci’s cook-a-thon.
