The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ogun State Chapter, has called on football fans and residents of Abeokuta to troop out in large numbers on Friday to support Remo Stars Football Club as they kick off the defence of their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, SWAN urged football lovers to turn up at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, to cheer the Ikenne-based club to victory.
Remo Stars will face Rivers United in their opening fixture of the 2025/2026 NPFL season on Friday, August 22, at 4 p.m.
The match will also mark the official return of NPFL action to the newly refurbished MKO Abiola Sports Arena, nine years after it last hosted top-flight games when Ikorodu United adopted it as home ground in 2016.
Ogunsiji stressed that a fully packed stadium would not only boost the morale of the players but also showcase the passion and commitment of Ogun State’s football fans to the rest of the country.
