Tension erupted at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, on Thursday as the institution began enforcing its ban on the popular post-examination “signing off” tradition among final-year students.
In a video shared by Facebook user, Okwa C. Ifugo, two unidentified female students were seen being sent out of a campus building for wearing shirts scribbled with marker inscriptions.
PUNCH Online recalls that the university management, in a circular signed by the Registrar, Dr. Chinenye Okeke, on Tuesday, announced a ban on the activity.
The directive described the tradition as one that often degenerates into chaos, violence, and disruption of normal academic activities.
