Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Ogun State, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat has assured  of improved grassroots governance with existing trainings and capacity development initiatives designed for Local Government Administrators. 

Speaking at an interview session with the Public Enlightenment crew of the Ministry of Information and Strategy in Oke - Mosan, Hamzat stated that the way to bring about improved productivity was to also improve on the input, by way of positioning all 20 Local Government Chairmen, their Vices , Heads of Local Government, the 236 Councilors and the Secretaries for the next- level of governance with proper training to achieve this feat.

" The Ministry aside managing the affairs of Obas (traditional rulers) in the State, is responsible for providing  guidance, coordination, and supervision of the 20 Local Governments Councils in the Sate. The Ministry has recorded success stories in capacity building, projects commissioning, Obas' Installation, and dispute resolution, to mention a few", he said.

Special Adviser to the Governor on  Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Rasak Daddah buttressed saying the deliverables at the Local Government level have not only met approved standards but also cut across sectors ;  blocks of classrooms , town hall, shopping complex, administrative blocks, road Infrastructure, solar-powered borehole facilities, and skill acquisition centres to mention a few.

Lending his voice, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi added that the Obas within the Sate have lived up to expectations by upholding peaceful reign, moderating on grievances that could have led to court, and also played the complimentary developmental role of attracting development, or investors into their respective domains.

The Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs came into existence in May, 2005 following the merger of Bureau of Local Government Affairs and the Bureau of Chieftaincy Matters for administrative convenience.
