Veteran Nollywood actress, Joke Silva, is mourning the passing of her elder brother, John Olabiyi Silva, who died on August 29, 2025, at the age of 72.

The actress confirmed the sad news in a heartfelt tribute on her Instagram page on Thursday, reflecting on their close bond.

“With acceptance of God’s Sovereign will, we announce the call to glory of my dear brother, John Olabiyi Silva …long John Silva…Bros B…Uncle B… my easy-go-lucky brother. Rest in peace. January 22, 1953,  August 29, 2025,” she wrote.

The loss comes at a difficult time for Silva, who has also been caring for her husband, veteran actor Olu Jacobs, as he battles dementia.

The announcement quickly drew an outpouring of condolence messages from colleagues, fans, and well-wishers across the entertainment industry.

Although not a public figure like his sister, John Olabiyi Silva was fondly known by nicknames such as “Long John Silva,” “Bros B,” and “Uncle B,”- a testament to the love and warmth he shared with family and friends.
