Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, have arrested four suspected burglars notorious for breaking into houses across the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed the arrests in a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Friday.
According to Abdullahi, the suspects were apprehended in Dambatta, Fagge, and Tarauni Local Government Areas during separate operations, and have all confessed to the crimes.
“In the course of our intensified operations within the state, we arrested some notorious suspected vandals and burglars who specialised in burgling houses in three different locations.
The suspects have so far confessed to committing the offences and were caught in possession of stolen items,” he said.
Items recovered from the suspects include nine mobile phones, one bicycle, three standing fans, three solar panels, a flat-screen television, two bundles of wires, two burglar-proof windows, three MP3 speakers, a small solar panel, a power bank, and three motor vehicle tyres.
Abdullahi noted that the arrests were part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to curb the activities of vandals and other criminal elements in Kano State.
“The cases have been thoroughly investigated, and the suspects will soon be charged to court,” he added.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Command, under the leadership of State Commandant Bala Bodinga, to safeguarding critical national assets and protecting the lives and property of residents.
The spokesperson also appealed to members of the public to support security agencies by reporting suspicious movements or providing useful information to aid crime prevention.
Meanwhile, PUNCH Online had earlier reported on September 25 that the Kano State Command of the NSCDC apprehended 19 suspected vandals across several local government areas as part of its broader crackdown on criminality.
