Rashford Eyes Permanent Move to Barcelona Despite Manchester United Contract - The Alternative News

England international Marcus Rashford has expressed his desire to make his stay at Barcelona permanent, despite being under contract with Manchester United until 2028.

The 27-year-old winger, who joined the Catalan club on loan, has impressed since arriving at the Camp Nou, where Barcelona reportedly hold an option to make the deal permanent for £28 million, a reduced fee compared to the £40 million United are said to be demanding from other potential suitors.

Speaking to ESPN, Rashford said he is relishing his time in Spain and considers playing for Barcelona an honour.

“I’m enjoying this football club, and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player, it is an honour,” he said.

When asked if he wanted to remain in Spain beyond his loan spell, Rashford replied: “For sure.”

According to BBC Sport, Rashford’s contract at Old Trafford runs until 2028, but reports suggest he is unlikely to feature in the plans of manager Ruben Amorim, who took charge earlier this season.

Rashford’s move to Barcelona followed a successful loan stint at Aston Villa during the second half of last season, where he rediscovered his form under Unai Emery.

He has since scored five goals in 12 appearances for Barcelona, including a brace against Olympiakos in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

Ahead of what will be his first El Clásico appearance against Real Madrid this weekend, Rashford said he feels revitalised by the new environment.

“People forget this, but 23 years of my life was with Manchester United. So sometimes you just need a change. I think maybe this is the case with me, and I’m enjoying everything,” he said.
