Again, Bandits Abduct Farmer in Eruku Community - The Alternative News

Barely weeks after a major kidnapping incident in the area, bandits have once again struck the Eruku community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting a 40-year-old farmer identified as Mr. Aasaru.

The attack, carried out by about four armed men on Sunday, marks the second abduction in Eruku in less than a month. It also comes just days after the federal government secured the release of 38 worshippers kidnapped from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in the same community.

According to reports, the assailants targeted Aasaru while he was working on his farm along the Koro-Eruku road.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Police Command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, said officers received a distress report around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

“Police operatives from Eruku Division received a complaint at about 1400 hours that four armed men invaded a farm along Koro Road, Eruku, at about 1230 hours and abducted one Mr. Aasaru, aged 40,” she stated.

She added that a combined team of police officers, military personnel, and local vigilante operatives was immediately deployed for an intensive search-and-rescue mission.

Ejire-Adeyemi said efforts have been intensified to secure the farmer’s safe release.
