Local Government Retirees Elated As Ogun Pays N50.77BN Gratuity - The Alternative News

Following the State Government's 3rd quarter disbursement of #5.77bn gratuity to retired Primary School Teachers and Local Government pensioners, countless display of appreciation have been demonstrated by the senior citizens to express their pleasure with the disbursement.

Speaking during the presentation of gratuity cheques to pensioners  at the Bureau of Local Government Pensions (BLGP), Oke - Mosan, Abeokuta, the  State Chairmen of the pensioners' associations namely;  Association of Retired Primary School Teachers Ogun State (ARPSTOS), Mr. Zaacheous Adekoya; Local Government Pensioners Association of Nigeria (LOGPAN), Pastor, Benedict Ademoye; and Retired Primary School Teachers Association of Nigeria (REPSTAN), Mrs. Caroline Oguntola said Governor Dapo Abiodun had genuine intention to improve their quality of life, through regular payment of their pensions and gratuities.

They stated that pensioners had never had it so good in the history of Ogun State, noting, it was evident that their welfare was topmost in the agenda of the present dispensation.

 The trio posited that the State helmsman has proven, once again, to be a leader with a heart of gold, whose concern for healthy living and welfare of the senior citizens remained unparalleled.

In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau, Engr. Olufisan Osiyale assured retired Primary School Teachers and Local Government Pensioners that Governor Dapo Abiodun was fully committed to ensuring that those who had served the State in their youth do not go hungry in their old age, as gray hair remained the splendor of the old and His Excellency was very much aware of this, adding that more sustainable measures to improve the wellbeing of the retirees would soon be unfolded.

The BLGP boss disclosed that Governor Abiodun had approved a financial relief (palliative) equivalent to 100% monthly gross salary for officers retiring between 2nd July, 2025 and 31st December, 2025, pending the consolidation of their Retirement Savings Accounts (RSAs) with their respective Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs).

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr.  Abayomi Aina and Mrs. Oluremi Yusuf commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for the prompt payment of their monthly pensions and regular disbursement of gratuities, urging him not to relent in his effort, so that other retirees would benefit speedily.
