Vice President Kashim Shettima has visited victims of the recent bomb blast at the Gamboru Market Mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State, offering condolences and assuring them of the Federal Government’s support.

The visit was confirmed in a statement by Stanley Nkwocha, Spokesman and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President. 

According to the statement, Shettima met with victims receiving medical treatment and conveyed the sympathy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government.

The Vice President assured the injured victims and families of those affected that the government would continue to provide necessary assistance in the aftermath of the tragic incident.

“Vice President Kashim Shettima has visited victims of the bomb blast at the Gamboru Market Mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State, to commiserate with those injured and the families affected. 

He conveyed the sympathy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government, assuring them of continued support,” the statement read.

PUNCH Online had earlier reported that at least five persons were confirmed dead, while 35 others sustained injuries following the explosion at Al-Adum Jumaat Mosque in the Gamboru Market area of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council.

The explosion reportedly occurred on Wednesday during the evening Maghrib prayer, deepening the tragedy for worshippers gathered at the mosque
