The Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has announced plans to increase the rural allowance for teachers in the State, targeted to enhance teaching and learning in rural communities.

The TESCOM Chairman, Apostle 'Biodun Sanyaolu disclosed this while speaking with newsmen at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

 Apostle Sanyaolu, said the incentive was part of Governor Dapo Abiodun determination to motivate and boost the morale of teachers posted to rural schools, thereby improving their productivity.

"TESCOM has categorised schools into urban, semi-urban and rural areas to determine which teachers will benefit from the incentive. Gone are the days when teachers rewards were said to be in heaven", he said.

The TESCOM boss affirmed that there were sufficient teachers in secondary schools across the State, noting that the ongoing redistribution exercise by the commission was aimed at ensuring equitable deployment of teachers in both rural and urban areas.

He also mentioned that the engagement and deployment of Ogun Teach interns to rural schools was part of the Commission's efforts to balance the education system.
