By: Lateef Akintunde,

The Alaye of Ayetoro, His Royal Majesty, Oba AbdulAzees Adelakun, has called on indigenes and residents of Ayetoro to embrace unity, peace, and cooperation as essential pillars for harmonious existence in the community.

The monarch made the call during the Yuletide celebration and end-of-year meeting at his palace, noting that collective efforts among people of diverse backgrounds remained the key to accelerated growth and infrastructural development.

Speaking through the Otunba of Ayetoro, Chief Kunle Fashola, Oba Adelakun emphasized that “no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of division,” urging residents to set aside personal and sectional interests for the overall progress of Ayetoro land.

According to the Alaye, unity among the traditional institution, community leaders, youths and other stakeholders would help attract greater government presence and private investments to the town.

Several prominent chiefs at the gathering echoed the monarch’s message. The Basorun of Ayetoro, Chief Bisiriyu Popoola; the Iyaloja General of Ogun State, Chief Mrs. Yemisi Abass; the Jagunmolu of Ayetoro, Chief Muritala Adedeji; and the Ojumo of Ayetoro, Chief Kunle Adeosun, all described unity as “the foundation upon which lasting development is built.”

They added that cooperation among residents would strengthen the community’s collective voice in advocating for critical infrastructural projects, particularly as plans were already underway for the 2026 Ayetoro Day Celebration that will hold at the Ayetoro Permanent Arcade, Joga, along Igan–Okoto Road.

In the same vein, the Asiwaju of Ayetoro, Chief Kunle Amosun, urged youths to channel their energy into productive ventures, stressing that peace and togetherness would foster employment opportunities, empowerment and social stability.

He also reaffirmed the Alaye’s earlier security directives aimed at maintaining peace in the town, including the prohibition of night gatherings, firearms, driving  against the traffic practices and movement between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

The monarch further reminded all that Ayetoro town, known to be richly endowed with human and natural resources which could only be fully harnessed through collective responsibility.

He encouraged sons and daughters of the town, both at home and in the diaspora, to contribute meaningfully to community development projects, especially in education, healthcare and road infrastructure, to complement government efforts.

The Yuletide gathering featured prayers for peace and prosperity, as well as light entertainment showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Ayetoro.

Community members expressed optimism that the renewed call for unity by the Alaye and his chiefs would usher in a new era of cooperation, peace and development for the town and its environs.
