Awujale Nomination: KWAM1 Writes Abiodun Again Over Alleged Exclusion | The Alternative News

For the second time, popular Fuji musician and Olori Omooba of Ijebuland, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM1), has written to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, alleging his exclusion from the ongoing process to select the next Awujale of Ijebuland and calling for the cancellation of the nomination exercise to avert prolonged litigation.

In a letter dated January 14, 2026, sighted by PUNCH Online on Friday, Ayinde, through his lawyer, Dr. Wahab Shittu, urged the governor to declare the Fusengbuwa Ruling House nomination meeting held on January 12, 2026, null and void for allegedly violating provisions of the Ogun State Obas and Chiefs Law, 2021.

Ayinde faulted what he described as the imposition of a delegate system and the alleged physical exclusion of eligible members of the ruling house by a faction during the nomination meeting held at Bisrod Hotel, Ijebu Ode.

According to the letter, the actions amounted to an arbitrary and ultra vires exercise of authority, undermining the statutory responsibility of the ruling house to conduct an open, inclusive, and transparent nomination process.

The musician stated that following the demise of Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland, it became the turn of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House to present candidates for the vacant stool.

He noted that the Secretary of Ijebu Ode Local Government, in a letter dated January 6, 2026, had directed members of the ruling house to convene a statutory meeting for the nomination of candidates in line with customary law and chieftaincy regulations.

However, Ayinde alleged that on the day of the meeting, he and several other eligible members were deliberately barred from entry, with security operatives reportedly deployed to restrict access to only selected “delegates” issued special cards by a faction within the family.

He argued that the delegate system was unilaterally introduced and never agreed upon by him or other excluded members, thereby denying them their right to participate directly in the statutory meeting of the ruling house.

Ayinde maintained that the nomination exercise conducted without the full and free participation of all eligible members was procedurally defective, unlawful, and null and void.

He consequently urged the governor, in the interest of justice and peace, to invalidate the January 12 exercise and order a fresh, transparent, and inclusive nomination process that would allow all eligible members of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House to participate without discrimination.

Meanwhile, 95 contestants, 94 princes and one princess, reportedly emerged from the January 12 nomination meeting held at **Bisrod Hall, GRA, Ijebu
