Ogun Unveils OgunLEARN AI Platform to Transform Teaching, Learning | The Alternative News

The Ogun State Government has taken a decisive step toward technology-driven education with the official unveiling of an Artificial Intelligence-powered teaching and learning platform known as OgunLEARN (Ogun Learning Enhancement and Academic Resource Network).

The platform was formally launched at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, as part of the state’s broader strategy to modernise education delivery, strengthen teacher capacity, and improve learning outcomes across public schools.

While unveiling the platform, the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, described the initiative as laudable and historic, noting that education remains the strongest foundation upon which any society is built. He highlighted key achievements of his administration in the education sector, including EduCash, OGSERA, and DiPER, which he said have contributed significantly to educational development in the state.

In his welcome address, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, described OgunLEARN as a transformative intervention capable of accelerating educational advancement across Ogun State. He called on all education stakeholders to ensure the platform is effectively deployed and properly utilised to achieve its intended objectives.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evang. Olalekan Ifede, described the launch as a significant milestone in the ongoing education sector reforms under the administration of Governor Abiodun.

According to Ifede, the introduction of an AI-powered platform reflects the governor’s deliberate investment in the future of education and his strong belief in innovation as a catalyst for sustainable development. He stressed that education remains the most effective instrument for personal growth and societal progress, making continuous investment in teaching and learning infrastructure imperative.

He noted that OgunLEARN would not only enhance classroom delivery but also make teaching more effective, productive, and responsive to modern realities. He added that the platform complements recent policy decisions aimed at improving teacher motivation, career progression, and professional fulfilment.

The SUBEB Chairman cited the approval of career advancement for degree-holding primary school teachers to Grade Level 17, as well as the reintroduction of Headteachers-General, as evidence of a holistic education reform agenda that prioritises both human capacity development and institutional strengthening.

He encouraged teachers and learners to fully embrace the platform, stressing that its overall impact would depend largely on consistent, disciplined, and responsible usage.

Also speaking, the State Chairman of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Comrade Olushina Faleti, commended the state government for integrating artificial intelligence into teaching and learning. He expressed confidence that the platform would enhance instructional delivery and significantly improve learning outcomes across schools in the state.
