Learners in public primary schools across Ogun state have been urged to remain focused on their academic pursuits as a sure pathway to success in life.
The Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, gave the charge during an Educational and Social Empowerment Programme organised by the Amuludun Grassroot Foundation at Olodo, Odeda Local Government Area of the State.
Speaking at the event, Evangelist Ifede said that determination and consistency in education remained the strongest tools for achieving success, encouraging pupils to take their studies seriously and strive for academic excellence.
He commended the convener of the programme for remembering his roots and for giving back to the community, urging Nigerians to always stay connected to their heritage irrespective of where life takes them. He also called on other well-meaning individuals to emulate such humanitarian gestures.
In his address, the convener of the foundation, who also serves as an Ex-Officio member of Ogun SUBEB, Ambassador Adewale Adeogun, explained that he chose to celebrate his birthday through educational and social empowerment initiatives because education remained the most powerful tool for societal development.
According to him, a nation would be better secured when its children were educated. He disclosed that educational materials that were distributed during the programme included, school uniforms and writing materials which pupils across Ogun, Lagos and Oyo States benefitted.
Ambassador Adeogun noted that the initiative was aimed at restoring dignity, hope and confidence in the younger generation, while urging youths not to underestimate the power of education, discipline and selfless service in driving positive societal change.
Responding, the Headteacher of Methodist Primary School, Fadage, Ibode-Olude in Abeokuta North Local Government Area, Mr Akeem Bamgbola, alongside his counterpart from UAMC Primary School, Baagbon, Olodo in Odeda Local Government Area, Mrs Adebisi Obadimu, expressed appreciation to the donor and prayed for continued divine blessings on the foundation.
The highlight of the event was the distribution of school uniforms and writing materials to the beneficiaries.
