Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, on Tuesday arrived at the National Assembly complex in Abuja to join the ongoing #OccupyNASS protest demanding urgent reforms to Nigeria’s electoral system.
The protest, organised by civil society organisations and opposition stakeholders, is calling for the reinstatement of mandatory electronic transmission of election results from polling units to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Result Viewing Portal (IREV).
Amaechi’s presence added momentum to the demonstration, which has attracted hundreds of protesters and several prominent figures, all urging the National Assembly to guarantee transparency and accountability ahead of the 2027 general elections.
