The Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has inaugurated newly appointed Headteachers General, charging them to be upright and dedicated in the discharge of their duties.

Recall that Governor Dapo Abiodun recently swore in the newly appointed Headteachers General across the State.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the SUBEB Chairman, Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, explained that the programme was organised to formally acquaint the Headteachers General with their roles and responsibilities in public primary schools.

Ifede said, the appointees were professionals who were expected to exhibit high levels of integrity and commitment to duty, urging them to deploy their wealth of experience towards achieving sustainable growth in basic education in the State.

He advised Headteachers General to complement the efforts of the State government, under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun in ensuring that pupils in Public Primary Schools could read, write and communicate effectively.

The SUBEB Boss further outlined their responsibilities to include; supporting curriculum implementation, conducting classroom observations for professional improvement, promoting learner-centred teaching methodologies, mentorship and capacity development.

In his address, Board Secretary, Mr. Olubori Akinleye, described the inauguration as the first of its kind in the history of the Board and charged the Headteachers General to live up to expectations in the discharge of their duties.

Responding on behalf of the appointees, the Headteacher General from  Ijebu Zone, Mr. Olusegun Alonge, commended the Board for the initiative and pledged that the Headteachers General would perform their duties diligently and justify the confidence reposed in them.
