Teachers across Ogun State have been charged to always be careful and meticulous in the usage of the Ogun Learning Enhancement and Academic Resource Network (OgunLEARN), an AI-powered teaching and learning platform designed to enhance seamless transfer of knowledge in schools.

Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, gave the charge while playing host to a group of researchers, Ethical Artificial Intelligence in Education Advocate in Abeokuta, saying even though teachers were encouraged to use the teaching platform in classroom, but it should be used cautiously.

Prof. Arigbabu recalled that the OgunLEARN digital platform which was customised with Nigerian peculiarities based on its School curriculum and scheme of work as well as learners experiences was developed by Ogun State teachers to provide access to digital lesson notes and ensure consistent education quality across both urban and rural communities.

He added that the platform was also designed to reduce manual administrative burdens for teachers, allowing more focus on student engagement and providing real-time insights to school administrators and policymakers to improve educational outcomes.

"Now that we have an AI Powered tool to make impartation easy and we have also encouraged teachers to effectively use it in classrooms, there is also a need for them to be cautious of its usage. It should be used positively for its purpose," he advised.

The Commissioner commended the power of professionalism displayed by the Advocate Ethical Group towards ensuring other secondary school teachers are supported to carry out their duties with the use of technology as designed by the present administration in the State.

Appreciating the effort of the researchers who had distinguished themselves in diverse competitions in local, national and international competitions, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, described them as dogged, highly committed and passionate professionals, enjoining them to encourage other teachers to key into the usage of AI innovation in order to take teaching and learning to a more desirable pedestal.

Speaking, the Lead Researcher, Mr. Owolabi Adelano, commended the Dapo Abiodun-led Administration for introducing innovation and initiatives which had positively impacted on the entire education sector of the State, saying digitalising the education system had made impartation of knowledge seamless.

Mr. Adelana on behalf of other members of the group, promised to put in their best in ensuring that teachers who were not Information and Communication Technology (ICT) compliant are well tutored and guided in order to make them proficient for effective impartation of knowledge.
