The Senate has confirmed former Rivers East Senator, Magnus Abe, as Chairman of the board of the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.
Also confirmed were Sunday Adebayo and Paul Yaro as non-executive commissioners of the commission.
Abe’s confirmation followed his earlier screening by the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), chaired by Eteng Williams, on March 16.
In line with established parliamentary tradition for former lawmakers, Abe, who represented Rivers East in the National Assembly, was accorded the privilege to “take a bow and go” during the screening process.
The nominations were part of appointments forwarded to the Senate by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the constitution of the NUPRC board.
