The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has installed Oba Raheem Ogunlaja as the new Nloku of Iraye-Remo in Remo North Local Government Area, as part of efforts to strengthen traditional institutions across the three Senatorial Districts of the State.
Speaking during the installation and presentation of the Staff of Office to the monarch, Governor Abiodun charged the new traditional ruler to adopt an open-door policy that would promote inclusive leadership and foster growth and development of the community.
The Governor, represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, also noted that peaceful co-existence and harmony remained essential for the rapid development of any community, urging the monarch to shun all forms of discrimination and continue to promote peace and tranquility within his domain.
“In this regard, I urge Kabiyesi to ensure that everyone is carried along in the affairs of the community without any form of discrimination. I also charge the people of Iraye-Remo to accord our new Kabiyesi the respect, support and cooperation needed to move the community to greater heights,” the Governor said.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Ogunlaja expressed appreciation to the Governor, Akarigbo and the people of Iraye-Remo for the confidence reposed in him to lead the community
He noted that the throne symbolised service, rather than privilege and responsibility, rather than power, pledging to foster unity, promote development, preserve the rich cultural heritage of the community and serve the people with integrity, fairness and compassion.
Meanwhile, Governor Abiodun had reiterated that monarchs across the State play pivotal roles as principal agents of culture, custodians of customs and symbols of unity in their communities.
The Governor stated this during the installation and presentation of the Staff of Office to the new monarch of Orile-Oko in Remo North Local Government Area, Oba Moses Fadairo .
Represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, the Governor, explained that in the implementation of the administration’s "Building Our Future Together" agenda, government holds the traditional institution in high esteem for its role in social mobilisation, community development and grassroots governance.
Gov. Abiodun urged the newly installed monarch to put in place the necessary mechanisms that would ensure the Orile-Oko stool is appropriately re-designated to reflect its Part II status, in line with other stools in the same category.
“I implore Kabiyesi to focus on accelerating the pace of socio-economic development in Orile-Oko. I also advise Kabiyesi to support the anti-land grabbing campaign by putting appropriate measures in place to curb land grabbing and other related criminal activities in your domain,” the Governor added.
The Chairman of Remo North Local Government, Hon. Olumuyiwa Sodade, represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Olu Soyemi, congratulated the newly installed traditional rulers and assured them of the council’s unwavering support in promoting peace and inclusive development in their respective communities, praying that their reigns would usher in an era of renewed unity and collective advancement.
On his part, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, congratulated the newly installed monarchs and urged them to facilitate speedy development in their respective domains.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Fadairo thanked the Almighty God, the Governor, the Akarigbo and the people of Orile-Oko for the opportunity to serve, while he appealed to all sons and daughters of the town to join hands in achieving greater progress, expressing hope that his reign would usher in unprecedented development and landmark achievements in Orile-Oko.
