Sisters of Jannah Kick Off 2026 Ramadan Care Project in Abeokuta | The Alternative News

Sisters of Jannah, Abeokuta Zone, has launched the first phase of its 2026 Ramadan Care Project in a bid to ease economic hardship and promote communal unity during the holy month of Ramadan.

The outreach programme was held at Idiya Central Mosque, located in Rounda, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

During the first phase of the initiative, more than 100 packages of raw food items were distributed to less privileged individuals drawn from various surrounding masjids within the community.

Speaking at the event, the Zonal Manager, Sis Nofisat Tejuoso, said the project was designed to provide essential food support to vulnerable families, particularly in view of the current economic realities.

She explained that the Ramadan Care Project is one of several humanitarian interventions spearheaded by Sisters of Jannah to support vulnerable members of society, especially women.

In separate interviews, beneficiaries Mrs. Abdullah Tawakaltu and Mr. Muhammad Dauda expressed gratitude and relief, noting that the food items would significantly ease the burden on their families during the fasting period.

Also addressing the gathering, the Grand Imam of the mosque, Sheikh Ashimiyu Alli, commended the group for its consistency and vision.

“This initiative is highly commendable,” Sheikh Alli said. “I enjoin other Muslim organisations and well-meaning groups to emulate the Sisters of Jannah. It is through such collective efforts that we can make life easier for the less privileged in our society.”

The event concluded with the observation of Salatul Asr and a special prayer session offered for the Sisters of Jannah and their continued humanitarian efforts.
