Supporters of a faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Thursday staged a protest in Abuja, expressing strong opposition to what they described as interference by prominent political figures in the party’s internal affairs.
The protesters, loyal to a faction led by its National Chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe, carried placards and chanted slogans, insisting that the party should be allowed to manage its affairs without external influence.
During the demonstration, the group specifically mentioned several high-profile politicians — David Mark, Rotimi Amaechi, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, urging them to “leave the party alone.”
According to the protesters, the ADC must remain independent and free from the influence of politicians they claim are not core members of the party.
A member of the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, was also present at the protest and joined the demonstrators in solidarity.
