Armed bandits, in the early hours of Monday, invaded Kemanji village in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing scores of residents in a fresh wave of violence.

According to reports by Daily Post, the attack occurred around 3:00 a.m., with security sources confirming the incident.

Security operatives, including personnel of the Nigerian Army and local vigilantes, were said to have engaged the assailants in a fierce gun battle that lasted for about two hours, ending around 5:00 a.m.

Sources indicated that the attack also claimed the lives of some soldiers, although the exact number of casualties remains unclear.

 Recently, bandits reportedly attacked Woro and Nuku communities, also in Kaiama Local Government Area, where several residents were killed, houses set ablaze, and over 100 people abducted.
