Borno: NAF Airstrike Hits Terrorist Camp, Kills Several Boko Haram Fighters | The Alternative News

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out a precision airstrike on a terrorist enclave in Kangarwa, within the northern Tumbuns area of Borno State, killing several insurgents linked to Boko Haram.

In a statement on Friday, NAF spokesperson, Ehimen Ejodame, said the operation was conducted by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai.
According to him, the strike was executed on April 1 at about 12:05 p.m., following credible intelligence on terrorist activities in the area.

Ejodame said intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions had earlier confirmed the presence and movement of fighters within the enclave prior to the strike.

“The precision strike was carried out based on credible intelligence, further reinforced by earlier intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions which confirmed the massing of terrorists and sustained hostile activity within the enclave,” he said.

“Following positive identification and target confirmation, NAF air assets conducted successive aggressive strike passes, delivering accurate fires on the identified locations.”

He noted that the bombardment destroyed key structures and logistics hubs while neutralising a significant number of fighters, severely degrading the operational capacity of the enclave.

The NAF spokesperson added that the strike disrupted terrorist movement and created favourable conditions for ground troops to advance and conduct follow-up clearance operations.

He disclosed that the operation dealt a major blow to fighters affiliated with the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

“The operation is assessed to have eliminated several ISWAP fighters with devastating impact, while the enclave’s command and support structure suffered a major setback,” he said.

Ejodame further stated that the operation highlights increasing coordination between air and ground forces in Nigeria’s ongoing counter-insurgency campaign.
