The Senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, has stated that Nigeria has the capacity to end insecurity within six months if the Federal Government demonstrates strong political will and takes decisive action.
Ndume made the assertion during an interview on Channels Television on Monday, April 14, stressing that addressing insecurity requires commitment rather than rhetoric.
“It is not about complaining. If the President and the Federal Government are serious about this, we can end this thing in six months. All we need is to train our soldiers, equip them, arm them very well, and then motivate them,” he said.
The lawmaker noted that the country’s security challenges, including insurgency and banditry, persist largely due to gaps in military preparedness and support.
He also lamented the continued loss of military personnel, including senior officers, warning that repeated attacks on security forces point to deeper operational weaknesses that must be urgently addressed.
Ndume urged the Federal Government to prioritise adequate funding, improved welfare, and better equipment for the armed forces, insisting that a well-supported military would be more effective in confronting security threats across the country.
