Obi Threatens Exit from ADC Over Alleged Compromise in Party Processes | The Alternative News

Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has warned that he would leave the African Democratic Congress (ADC) if its candidate selection process becomes compromised or driven by financial influence.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Monday, Obi stated that he would not hesitate to speak out if party tickets are awarded to the highest bidders, stressing that integrity in the process is non-negotiable.

According to him, “who people are today is more important than who they were yesterday,” adding that he cannot be part of any system that promotes electoral malpractice.

Obi explained that his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 presidential election was due to what he described as a “transactional” primary process.

“In PDP, people were not playing by the rules; it was transactional, and I cannot be part of a transactional primary,” he said.

When questioned about working with some of the same political actors in the ADC, Obi maintained that he would raise concerns if similar practices emerge in the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

The former Anambra State governor also disclosed that his earlier departure from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was due to a fallout with his successor, noting that the relationship had become toxic and was affecting governance.

He further blamed the ruling government for his eventual decision to leave the Labour Party.
