The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man, Idowu Ashafa, over alleged possession of a human head and two human palms concealed in a nylon bag in Igbesa.

The arrest was carried out by operatives attached to the Igbesa Division under the supervision of Area Commander, Folashade Tanaruno, during a routine patrol in the early hours of April 17, 2026.

The command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, noting that the suspect was intercepted during a patrol led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Solotan K. Owolabi.

Preliminary investigations, according to the police, indicate that the suspect allegedly exhumed the remains from a grave at Ido Itekun Village for ritual purposes.

Police said the implement allegedly used in the act was recovered, while the scene of the incident was visited and documented. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

The Ogun State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to combating crime and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
