Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has arrived at the venue of the presidential screening exercise of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Amaechi, a presidential aspirant, arrived on Wednesday at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, dressed in Niger Delta traditional attire and accompanied by some of his close allies.
The former governor of Rivers State is participating in the screening process ahead of the party’s selection of its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
Amaechi had last week formally declared his intention to contest the presidency, following the submission of his nomination forms at the ADC national secretariat in Abuja.
Speaking after submitting the forms, he made it clear that his ambition is solely focused on contesting for the presidency, dismissing speculations about a possible vice-presidential role.
“I did not buy the presidential nomination forms to become a vice presidential candidate,” he said, insisting that his goal is to emerge as Nigeria’s president.
