Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has sentenced former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, to a cumulative 75 years’ imprisonment over a ₦33.8 billion fraud.
The court handed down the sentence after convicting Mamman on multiple counts, with Justice Omotosho ruling that the sentences would run consecutively, bringing the total to 75 years.
The judge further directed that the sentence would commence from the date of the convict’s arrest. He also ordered all security agencies, including Interpol, to ensure his arrest wherever he is found.
In addition, the court ordered that all monies recovered from the convict, as well as his properties, be forfeited to the federal government.
Justice Omotosho also directed Mamman to refund the outstanding balance from the ₦22 billion linked to the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.
