KWAM 1's Daughter Damilola Eyes Assembly Seat in Lagos, Promises Good Representation - The Alternative News

The Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Mustapha Adekunle, has endorsed Damilola Ayinde Marshal, daughter of Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, for the Lagos State House of Assembly.

In a short video shared on Damilola’s Snapchat handle on Wednesday, the aspirant was seen presenting branded caps to Sego during a meeting believed to be part of her political consultations ahead of the primaries of the All Progressives Congress.

Speaking in the clip, the Lagos NURTW chairman urged party members and supporters to back her ambition.

“When it is primary election, please come out en masse and vote for Dami, Omo Anifowose. She is the only one who can do it. The progress of our Surulere is our collective responsibility. It is our time,” Sego said.

The endorsement adds to the growing support for Damilola’s ambition to represent Surulere Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly under the APC.

PUNCH Online had earlier reported that the lawyer and Senior Special Assistant to Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism announced her intention to contest the seat through a post on Instagram.

“I am excited to share that I, Barr. Damilola Ayinde Marshal, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” she wrote.

She said her professional experience had prepared her for public service and effective representation.

“I am a woman of excellence and results. I am ready to serve and lead. With my background, I am fully prepared and ready to fight for what truly matters. I promise to be the voice of the youths in the House,” she added.

Damilola also described herself as part of a new generation of leaders committed to development and youth inclusion.

“As a young woman, I believe this is exactly what my people need right now, and that is why I decided to step forward,” she stated.

She is expected to replace the current lawmaker representing the constituency, Mosunmola Rotimi Sangodara, who occupies the seat under the APC.
