Sustained Capacity Building, Essential for Enhanced Staff Efficiency - Commissioner | The Alternative News



The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, has emphasised the importance of training and capacity building programmes for civil servants in Ogun State as an enabler of effective service delivery.


Represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Rasak Daddah, Hamzat, conveyed this message during a training session organised for the staff of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs at Ijebu-ode, with the themed, "Enhancing Productivity through Effective Service Delivery in the Civil Service," aimed to improve work capacity by exposing staff to diverse possibilities.


"The Ministry recognises the significance of staff development, and this training has been designed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills", Hamzat emphasised.


In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, encouraged participants to look beyond their current capabilities and leverage the opportunities presented by such training for professional growth, urging them to take full advantage of the training programme.


Dr. Akinlesi, who also served as one of the resource person alongside Mr. Oladipupo Ogunfowora, Permanent Secretary of the Bureau of Service Matters, guided attendees through topics such as Time Management, Work Ethics, Motivation and Responsibilities in the Civil Service, complemented by interactive sessions.


The duo highlighted the importance of planning, goal setting, delegation, task automation, prioritization and self-motivation as essential tools for enhancing performance.


Two of the participants, Saheed Hassan and Olamide Watson, expressed gratitude to the State Government and the Management of the Ministry, for the opportunity, assuring that it would lead to a corresponding improvement in service outcome.
