Youths Storm Jonathan’s Abuja Residence, Urge Him to Contest 2027 Presidency - The Alternative News

A group of youths under the aegis of the Coalition for Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday staged a solidarity rally at the Abuja residence of former President Goodluck Jonathan, calling on him to contest the 2027 presidential election.

The demonstrators gathered in large numbers at Taraba Close in Maitama, chanting songs and slogans urging the former leader to return to active politics.

The rally spilled into adjoining streets, causing heavy traffic disruption in the upscale district.

Placards displayed by the protesters bore inscriptions such as “GEJ: Nigeria is dying, save it!” and “GEJ, if you no run, we quench,” reflecting growing agitation among sections of the youth population.

The group described Jonathan as a unifying figure with the capacity to address Nigeria’s current socio-economic and political challenges.

The development adds to increasing calls from various groups across the country urging the former president to rejoin the political arena ahead of the 2027 general election.

More details to follow.
