The All Progressives Congress (APC) has ruled out any review of its recently concluded primaries for the 2027 general elections, insisting that the process has been concluded in line with its timetable and guidelines.
Party officials disclosed that the list of successful candidates has already been finalised and will soon be uploaded to the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
A senior party official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the APC would not revisit the outcomes of the primaries, noting that the period for appeals had elapsed.
“We are not reviewing the results of the primaries. Everything has been concluded and we are awaiting access to upload the names of candidates,” the official said.
The development comes despite protests and petitions from aggrieved aspirants across several states, including Lagos, Rivers, Kogi, Delta and Osun, who alleged irregularities and called for fresh primaries.
However, party sources maintained that most of the petitions lacked merit and did not significantly affect the outcome of the exercises. According to them, many of the complaints bordered on pre-primary issues such as zoning arrangements and eligibility concerns.
INEC has fixed June 26 for the release of access codes to its nomination portal, while July 11 remains the deadline for political parties to submit particulars of their candidates.
The APC primaries, held between May 16 and 18, saw several political upsets, with no fewer than 54 serving federal lawmakers, including senators and members of the House of Representatives, failing to secure return tickets.
The party’s stance effectively shuts the door on fresh appeals and signals a shift in focus toward meeting INEC’s submission deadline ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC had earlier conducted its primaries in May 2026 as part of its election timetable aligned with INEC’s schedule.
