Suspected members of Boko Haram and its faction, Islamic State West Africa Province, on Saturday evening attacked Kautikari village in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, setting two schools ablaze.

According to local sources, the attackers stormed the community around 7 p.m., targeting a primary school and a day secondary school, both of which were reportedly burnt during the raid.

The incident triggered panic among residents, who fled into nearby bushes to escape the violence.

A security operative from the village, currently based in Maiduguri, confirmed the attack, noting that details regarding casualties remain unclear.

“Yes, I can confirm that Kautikari village in Chibok LGA is under attack. Our people are fleeing for safety and two schools are on fire,” the source said.

The community has experienced repeated assaults in recent times, raising concerns over persistent insecurity in the area.
