Efforts have been intensified in the primary education sector to improve data collection and monitoring of schools nationwide as the Federal Government  has delivered and installed Smart Boards at the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Speaking during the presentation and installation exercise at the Board’s Secretariat Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Chairman of the Board, Evang. Olalekan Ifede, described the initiative as a major step towards building a technology-driven national schools database.

Ifede, assured that the devices would be used strictly for the intended purposes. He appreciated the Honourable Minister of Education, Mr. Tunji Alausa, for fulfilling his pledge to equip all 36 State Ministries of Education and states SUBEB with the technology.

He noted that the delivery of the interactive Smart Board devices to Ogun SUBEB and the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology would significantly enhance data management in the sector.

Also speaking, the UBEC State Coordinator, Mr. Sola Badmus, described the handover as historic, saying the Smart Boards would transform school data collection and monitoring in the State by providing policymakers with reliable tools for informed decision-making.

During the installation exercise, Mr. Adewale Adesanya, of the Federal Ministry of Education, in charge of Lagos and Ogun, explained that the interactive Smart Boards would be used for the Annual School Census through the Digital National Education Management Information System (DNEMIS).

He added that the devices would enable the Federal Government to monitor school data across all states, thereby supporting effective policy formulation and improved educational planning.
