INEC Yet to Receive Certified Copy of Court Judgment Voiding NDC Registration - Sources - The Alternative News

The Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC), has yet to receive the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Federal High Court ruling that nullified the registration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), sources within the commission have disclosed.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State, on Friday vacated its earlier judgment delivered on December 10, 2025, which had compelled INEC to register the NDC as a political party.

Delivering the ruling in suit number FHC/LKJ/CS/49/2025, the presiding judge, Justice Isah Dashen, held that the earlier judgment was flawed as it was delivered without hearing all necessary parties, thereby rendering the proceedings constitutionally defective.

The court’s decision followed an application filed by the Peace Movement Party (PMP), which argued that it had a legitimate interest in the matter and should have been joined as a party before the judgment was delivered.

Justice Dashen further ruled that material facts were not disclosed during the earlier proceedings. He consequently ordered that the substantive suit be heard afresh, with INEC, the PMP and the NDC joined as parties.

Sources within INEC, who spoke on Saturday, confirmed that the commission is aware of the court’s latest ruling but has not yet received the Certified True Copy of the judgment.

According to the sources, the commission will refrain from making any official comment or taking action until it has obtained and reviewed the CTC of the ruling.
