In its interest to continuously encourage excellent performance among learners, the Government of Prince Dapo Abiodun in Ogun State has rewarded the 2024/2025 Overall Best Graduating Student of Olabisi Onabanjo University with N2.5million and the other 12 Outstanding Graduates from different faculties with N500,000 each.
Presenting the cheques on behalf of the Governor in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu said the aim was to further promote competitive standards of education among learners in both public and private schools, irrespective of their educational levels.
Prof. Arigbabu noted that apart from provision of infrastructure, conducive learning environments, employment of teachers, support for teacher's welfare through regular payment of salaries and allowances, the Price Abiodun's administration is also dedicated to the well-being of learners to enhance their befitting academic performance.
The Commissioner described the Governor as a passionate father whose encomium must be chanted, even beyond his administration, because he priorities and makes quick reponses to any matter affecting learners, adding that his hand work and hard work in the sector are already speaking for him as the best in terms of provision of qualitative education.
"I want to encourage you to see this as the beginning, one of the reasons why you have been recognised and rewarded is because this administration believes in rewards for excellence and also to encourage you to go on and continue to do well", Arigbabu said.
Underscoring the importance of the presentation, the Director in the Department of Tertiary Education, Mr. Theophilus Adebayo explained that the rewards have become a norms under the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun, as he encouraged the beneficiaries to imbibe the act of generosity from the Governor.
Applauding the Governor for what was tagged as soul lifting, surprise and generosity for the secured futures, the Overall Best Graduating Student, Bamidele Ajayi from the faculty of engineering, the best student in the faculty of medicine, Jokotade Okuribido, the best in science, Balogun Al-Islam and other beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Commissioner for the awards.
Meanwhile, the Education Commissioner, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu paying a congratulatory visit to the new Head of Service in Ogun State, Mr. Olanrewaju Saka said he use to be proud of his character and extraordinary performances over the years, as he prayed that God will continue to work with him for a successful landing.
