Stakeholders Laud Gov. Abiodun on Appointment of New HOS - The Alternative News


The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has been applauded for putting the right peg in the right hole through the appointment of Mr. Iskeel Olanrewaju Saka as the 21st Head of Service of Ogun State.


This applause was the consensus of stakeholders comprising accounting officers of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government, Union leaders as well as social club, who led members on felicitation visits to the Office of the Head of Service on his appointment.


According to them, the choice of Mr. Saka by the governor is a welcome development as integrity, dedication, commitment and hard work amongst other virtues stood the new Head of Service out for the exalted position.


Leading the Management Team of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Jola Oyeneye, pledged the Agency's readiness to capacity development and digitalisation of the Public Service, as the agency is saddled with the responsibility of thinking radically and handling tasks differently via various reforms.


On his part, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, said "we are here to identify with you on your new assignment and assure you of our unwavering support and cooperation. We pray for God’s guidance and wisdom as you discharge your responsibilities".


From the Ogun State Health Insurance Agency (OGSHIA), the Executive Secretary, Dr. Afolabi Dosunmu, said the service-oriented agency has been living up to expectations in terms of providing quality health care delivery to the citizens, called for interventions in some challenges facing it and pledged more support and engagements as the government prioritises the health of its people.


Lending his voice, the Chairman of the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners (NAGGMDP) Ogun State Chapter, Dr. Festus Adetonwa, called on the government to institute State law to criminalise assaults on the medical practitioners in order to allay their fears as well as other issues confronting the association.


In another development, a social club, "Friends in Friends" led by a retired civil servant, Mr. Olusegun Ibirinde submitted that "today, we are proud to celebrate one of our own whose appointment reflects the values of hard work, integrity, excellence, and dedication to public service; Mr. Saka's elevation to the highest rank in the Ogun State Civil Service is not only a personal achievement but also a source of pride to our club and the wider community".


The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Moriamo Oloko, her counterparts from the Ministry of Health, Dr. Kayode Oladehinde, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Mr. Ahmed Adetona, the Office of the Accountant-General/State Treasury, Mr. Olalekan Taiwo, the Auditor General for Local Government, Olayinka Abdul, the Administrative Officers' Group, led by its Chairman, Mr. Olumuyiwa Ojo as well as the Chairman, Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals, Pharm. Abiodun Adesina, 

also led their Management Teams.


Responding, the Head of Service, Mr. Iskeel Saka, appreciated the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and all the visitors for the honour done him on his appointment, called for their prayers, collaboration and unwavering support to make him succeed as the 21st Head of Service of Ogun State.


Mr. Saka charged them to return to their agencies to promote professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness in deepening the Service in order for him to consolidate on the gains of his predecessors for the betterment of the Civil/Public Service and the State at large.
