The 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has unveiled his vision for the country ahead of the upcoming general election.

Obi made this known in a statement released on Wednesday via his 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) account, where he outlined a roadmap aimed at repositioning Nigeria towards unity, productivity, and national transformation.

In the statement, titled “My Vision for a Productive and Prosperous Nigeria,” the former Anambra State governor emphasised that his agenda is rooted in unity, inclusion, social justice, equity and the freedom of citizens to pursue legitimate aspirations.

He noted that his administration would prioritise education and healthcare as central pillars of human capital development, describing them as critical to national progress and economic growth.

Obi also pledged to establish a special task force to tackle the growing number of out-of-school children across the country. He stressed the importance of strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a strategic pathway to industrialisation.

According to him, his government would invest in agricultural development and promote value addition through the establishment of industrial parks across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.

He further stated that improving funding and equipment for TVET institutions, through partnerships involving government, the private sector and social entrepreneurs, would create apprenticeship opportunities similar to the German dual education system.

Addressing unemployment, Obi said his administration would confront the paradox of high joblessness amid a shortage of skilled labour, which has forced many Nigerian entrepreneurs to establish businesses abroad. He added that resolving this imbalance is key to transitioning Nigeria from a consumption-driven economy to a production-based one.

The NDC candidate also highlighted plans to strengthen character and civic education, noting that instilling values such as trust and shared national identity is essential for leadership and enterprise.

Reaffirming his commitment, Obi concluded with his signature message:
