A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has sentenced three suspects involved in the Oriire school abduction to life imprisonment.

The convicts were found guilty of withholding vital information about the masterminds behind the kidnapping of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area. They had earlier pleaded guilty before Justice Salem Ibrahim.

According to court proceedings, the defendants admitted to concealing details that could have helped authorities identify those responsible for the attack. Their guilty pleas led directly to their conviction.

The prosecution also revealed that the suspects were members of Darul Salam, described as an affiliate of Ansaru, a proscribed terrorist organisation in Nigeria.

Two of the convicts, Abdulrazak Umar and Shamsudin Adamu, further pleaded guilty to charges of providing training and guidance to members of a WhatsApp group allegedly used to incite acts of terrorism.

In addition, Umar admitted to engaging in illegal gold mining activities in the Chaza area of Suleja Local Government Area without lawful authorisation.

Following the admissions and evidence presented, the court sentenced all three defendants to life imprisonment for their roles in the incident.
