The Ogun State Civil Service Commission has organised a capacity-building workshop for its staff to foster growth mindset, promote ethical values and boost service delivery.

The sensitisation programme, which took place at the Commission’s Conference Room, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, focused on closing performance gaps and positioning the workforce for optimal productivity.

 In his welcome address, Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Mr. Jola Oyeneye, noted that recent workplace observations had called for an urgent need of mindset shift among officers.

 He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to continuous staff development, stating that the training had provided officers with practical tools to serve the State more effectively.

 Delivering a lecture, a retired Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Roseline Jacobs, emphasised the importance of integrity and transparency in the public sector. She reminded participants that Civil Servants must strictly adhere to the Public Service Rules, Financial Regulations and the Code of Conduct for Public Officers, while urging officers to protect government information and resources as well as avoid corruption or abuse of office.

 "Civil servants are expected to perform their duties with integrity, diligence and unalloyed commitment to public service," Jacobs said.

  Also, speaking, Deputy Director, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Mrs. Ibironke Akinbode, emphasised on personal mindsets influence and workplace culture.

  She contrasted a fixed mindset—marked by file delays and blame-shifting - with a growth mindset that drives daily process improvements and proactive problem-solving, noting that adopting a growth mindset would speed up file turnaround times, would also boost efficiency and restore public trust in government institutions.

The workshop reaffirmed the core mandate of the Ogun State Civil Service Commission, which centres on merit-based recruitment, staff welfare, and fair promotions.
