Suspected gunmen on Sunday night attacked Naridon village in Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, reportedly killing about 30 people.

According to residents who spoke with DAILY POST, the attackers stormed the community in large numbers, unleashing violence that left dozens dead, many injured and several others missing as villagers fled for safety.

A local source said, “Only 30 people have been confirmed killed by the gunmen. Many people are still missing because they ran for their lives, while others who sustained various injuries are being taken to medical centers for treatment.”

The source further disclosed that numerous houses were set ablaze, with properties worth millions of naira destroyed during the attack.

The attack has thrown the community into deep mourning, with fears that the death toll may rise as more information emerges and search efforts continue.

Residents described the incident as yet another tragic example of the ongoing insecurity affecting vulnerable communities in Kauru LGA and other parts of the state. The violence has led to deaths, injuries, destruction of homes, and displacement of many innocent people.

They called on both the state and federal governments, as well as security agencies, to urgently reinforce security presence in affected areas to restore normalcy and allow residents return to their farming activities.

The spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, could not be reached for official confirmation of the incident.
