Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a 67-year-old Nigerian-British woman, Mrs Mary Yetunde Barek, for allegedly attempting to traffic 13 kilogrammes of cocaine concealed in plantain peels at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
The suspect was apprehended at the departure hall of Terminal 2 while boarding a Virgin Atlantic flight to London on June 28, 2026.
NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, said a search of her luggage led to the recovery of 31 wraps of cocaine disguised as plantain bunches.
